More Information

The EXAR Ultra Dark is the night-black version of Magene's lightweight disc wheelset, with dark logos and a clean, understated look. HI-MOD carbon rims and spokes cut weight while keeping stiffness high, for a quick response when climbing or accelerating.

The rims are asymmetric in height: the front is lower (40mm or 50mm) so it is easier to control, and the rear is deeper (45mm or 58mm) for stability, aero benefit and crosswind resistance. VONOA carbon spokes weigh just 2.8 g each, which Magene states is about 30% lighter and 30% stronger in tension than top-tier steel spokes. The hubs use a larger flange diameter to reduce stress at the spokes and a 2:1 balanced lacing pattern.

The 23mm internal width suits 28–32c tyres and gives a flatter tyre-to-rim surface. The wheelset works with tubeless and clincher tyres, and is designed to run with TPU inner tubes. Compared with the EXAR Ultra, the Ultra Dark uses steel bearings, which adds a little weight and lowers the cost.
